Merritt pleads guilty to 2013 robbery

Nearly three years after robbing the Subway Restaurant in Ville Platte, Jacoby Merritt appeared before Judge Gary Ortego to plead guilty to one count of principal to simple robbery.
Merritt, who was being represented by attorney Jacob Fusilier, was arrested on July 29, 2014 for this crime after witnesses named him as the robber in the 2013 robbery.
Merritt pled guilty to one count of principal to simple robbery on September 8, 2016 and received seven years of hard labor. Merritt’s sentence will run concurrently with any other sentences he is currently serving, and he will be credited for time served.
