The Louisiana State Police Troop I released a press release concerning a fatal crash in Evangeline Parish on Sunday that claimed the life of 36-year-old Jacob McDaniel of Boyce.
According to the release, the single vehicle crash occurred “shortly after midnight” on Harrison Road near LA Hwy. 29.
In the release, it states that “the initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as McDaniel was driving a 2000 Ford F250 southbound on Harrison Road,” and “for unknown reasons, the Ford ran off of the right side of the roadway and struck a tree near the driver’s side door.”
According to the release, “McDaniel was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries.” The 36-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by the Evangeline Parish Coroner’s office.
It is unknown at this time if impairment was a factor in the crash, however toxicology samples were taken from McDaniel and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
