On Monday at around 3:00 p.m. Ville Platte Chief of Police Neal Lartique released a press release in regard to a high speed chase that occurred on Main Street early Monday morning. The release reads as follows:
"On Monday, June 19, 2017, Officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance at a local business on Tate Cove Rd. Upon arrival Officers learned that one of the subjects involved in the disturbance fled the area in a vehicle that he did not have permission to use. A few minutes later the vehicle and subject were located and stopped on Main Street, by Detectives and Officers.
"Emanuel Malbrew, 48 of 280 Austin Road, Ville Platte was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a moveable. Malbrew was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail and transferred to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail on a $15,000.00 bond.
"If you have any information regarding illegal activity in the community, you are asked to call the Ville Platte Police Department at 363-1313. Your call will remain anonymous."
