The Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue is requesting information from the public regarding a homicide that occurred on Sunday evening.
According to a Ville Platte Police Department press release, at around 8:30 p.m. officers with VPPD “responded to a report of a female with injuries laying on the ground at the intersection of North Chataignier and East Jackson Streets in Ville Platte.”
The release went on to say that “upon arrival officers found the victim suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.”
The female was transported by Acadian Ambulance to Mercy Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
According to the release, detectives “began their investigation and collecting of evidence from the scene” Sunday night.
