Keep Evangeline Beautiful Electronic Recycling Project
Keep Evangeline Beautiful, in cooperation with the Evangeline Parish Police Jury and the municipalities of Evangeline Parish is sponsoring a parish wide Electronic Recycling Project.
Citizens are encouraged to bring in old electronics that will be refurbished and provided to schools, non-profits, and low-income families. This is a free service.
Electronics will be accepted from Monday, April 24 to Friday April 28 at the following sites: Basile Town Hall (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Chataignier Town Hall (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Mamou City Hall (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Pine Prairie Town Hall (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Turkey Creek Town Hall (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and Ville Platte City Hall (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
The electronics that will be accepted are: computer hardware, computer accessories (mice, keyboards, speakers), lap tops, telephones, telephone systems, security systems, cell phones, DVD movies, video games, MP3 players, Xboxes, PlayStations, Wii, digital cameras and digital video recorders, digital picture frames, networking equipment, FAX machines, circuit boards, processors, flat screen monitors, telephone & computer cables, uninterruptible power supplies, printers/scanners, printer cartridges, portable navigation devices.
Electronic items that will not be accepted are: appliances or furniture, copiers/CRT/televisions, CDs, light bulbs, fluorescent light bulbs of any kind and household batteries.
Evangeline Community Beauty and Beau Pageant
The Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Ville Platte will be holding an Evangeline Community Beauty & Beau Pageant on September 16, 2017, at 6 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Center for ages 6 months to 18 years. The age groups are listed on the flyer, and awards will be given for each category along with crowning of the King and Queen. The cost for entry is $30.00 per child, and for those entering two or more children the cost is $20.00 per child. Entry applications are available here at The Gazette or from the Pageant Director Vanessa Seraille and must be turned in by May 31, 2017. Anyone interested in entering their child(ren), please complete an entry application along with entry fee and return it the pageant director or committee members by the deadline date. More instructions will be made available after the entry deadline, and all entry applications are received. Mega Garage Sale
to be held April 29
A mega garage sale will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Ville Civic Center that will provide a three-fold opportunity of giving your unwanted items and volunteering your time, finding wonderful treasures at great prices, and benefiting the poor and the needy.
Many volunteers and items are needed. Items needed are furniture, appliances, household items such as kitchen, interior, artwork, linens, and dishes, seasonal items, fabrics, crafts, working exercise equipment, working electronics, books, children’s toys, bikes, jewelry, and shoes.
