Mamou Elementary School will hold Parent Teacher Conferences on January 5, 2016. Parents can meet with their child’s teacher to discuss attendance, grades, homework and strategies to improve academic achievment. Parents are all encouraged to attend. Food for Families to deliver food Dec. 1
The Evangeline Community Action Agency and Food for Families/Food for Seniors will distribute food boxes December 1, 2016 at the following sites and times: 1 to 2 p.m. at Town Hall in Basile; 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Skating Rink in Mamou; 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Pine Prairie; 9 to 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Chicot; 1 to 2 p.m. at Town Hall in Turkey Creek; 1 to 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church in Lone Pine; 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. at Town Hall in Chataignier; and 7 to 9 a.m. at the Civic Center in Ville Platte.

Ville Platte Chamber of Commerce Trip
The Ville Platte Chamber of Commerce is planning a bus trip to New Orleans to tour the World War II Museum on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. The bus would leave from the Wal Mart parking lot at 6:30 a.m. and will return at 7:30 p.m.
Trip will include entrance to 4D IMAX theater, lunch with entertainment by the Vic-Tones - “Beyond All Boundaries,” entrance to WWII museum, bus ticket, and complimentary water.

James Stephens EPYB Registration
Evangeline Parish Youth Bask-etball (EPYB) Registration at James Stephens Montissori will be held on Saturday, December 10th, and Sunday, December 11th, at the school’s gymnasium. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Application and a birth certificate is required to register.
Saint Luke Chorus hosting musical on Jan. 28
The Saint Luke Inspirational Chorus of Vidrine will be having their winter musical on Saturday, January 28, 2017. The service will begin at 6 p.m. A male chorus, groups, choirs, a soloist and praise team will all be performing. The guest group will be The Aaron Taylor Music ministry from Oakdale. Eastern Seven District Women Auxiliary Annual Christmas Event
You are cordially invicted to attend Eastern Seven District Women Auxiliary Annual Christmas event which will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. The event will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, located at 203 E. Lincoln Rd. There will be a drama, food and musical presentation at the Christmas event.

The Village of Chataignier is holding several Christmas events in the village this holiday season. From 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on December 11, there were be a Gumbo Cook-Off. The village’s annual Christmas Parade will line up at 2:30 p.m. and start at 3 p.m. The village is also having an Angel Tree and a food drive until Dec. 23. CASA hosting Christmas party
to collect toys for children
CASA is hosting a Christmas party for 145 foster children in foster care in Evangeline and St.. Landry Parishes. CASA is seeking unwrapped toys for children of all ages from newborn to 17 years old. Toys can be dropped off at the Ville Platte police department with Connie or at Ville Platte City Hall with Hilda. Please bring your toy donations before December 14th. Food Net/Mamou/Food Pantry St. Francis Center
Food Net will be Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Religious Education Building next to St. Ann’s Church at 716 6th Street in Mamou.
Non-perishable items needed are: rice, dried potatoes, canned fruits, juices milk and vegetables, tuna, Vienna Sausages, SPAM, potteed meat, chicken, powdered milk, oatmeal, grits, soup, Jell-O, peanut butter, syrup, jelly, baking goods, cooking oil, sugar, seasonings, mayonnaise, mustard, tomato sauce, Kool-Aid, breakfast foods, hot and cold boxed cereals, crackers, paper products, toilet tissue, toilet articles, shampoo, soap, cleaning supplies and detergents.
Monetary donatations will also be accepted.
