Coreil Campus holding thank you
reception for welding program donors
South Louisiana Community College Chancellor Dr. Natalie Harder and other college administrators will offer thanks to recent donors to the welding program at the college’s C.B. Coreil Campus. Cabot Corporation, Southwest Fidelity, and the Ville Platte Rotary contributed $4,000 to the SLCC Foundation for the purchase of student welding supplies including welding hoods and other items. Mark Suellentrop with Cabot was instrumental in initiating this effort. The thank you reception will be held on Monday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. in the Welding Ship, C.B. Coreil Campus.
VPHS Class of 1967 taking part
in homecoming festivities
The Ville Platte High School Class of 1967 is planning on participating in VPHS Homecoming on Sept. 30. Ville Platte High School hosting
Family Math Night on Sept. 22
Ville Platte High School will be hosting a Family Math Night on Thursday, September 22 at 5:30 p.m. in VPHS Room 708 (Fifth and Sixth Grade Building). The focus of the night will be multiplication and the event starts at 5:30 p.m. and the presenter will be Mrs. Yvetter Jagneaux. All families are encouraged to attend. Information presented at the meeting will be available at the school. Each student in attendance with a parent will earn a hat and jean pass. Petit Jury Trial for Tuesday canceled
The Petit Trial scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 in Judge Gary J. Ortego’s Courtroom, Division “A” has been cancelled. All prospective jurors do not need to report.
Silver Eagles meetings held weekly
The Silver Eagles social group for residents ages 50 and older meet each Tuesday at the Pine Prairie Community Center beginning at 10 a.m. For $4, those in attendance can enjoy bingo, lunch and fellowship. Everyone is invited to attend.

Due to the number of News Briefs and the limited space in The Gazette, all briefs will run as space permits. All briefs will be guaranteed one run, and after that, as space permits. All briefs must be turned in by noon on Tuesday for consideration in Thursday’s paper and by noon Thursday for consideration in Sunday’s paper.
