Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine is calling on all residents of Evangeline Parish for their assistance.
Vidrine says that the City of Ville Platte/Evangeline Parish Flood Relief Center is need of monetary donations to assist flood victims affected by the devastating flooding that occurred across Louisiana.
Vidrine said, “All of these funds will remain here and help our Ville Platte/Evangeline Parish flood victims.”
Even though other organizations have aided the community, as did the American Red Cross with food donations on Monday, the center still needs help.
Donations can be dropped off at the Ville Platte Civic Center, Ville Platte City Hall or such donations can be mailed to City of Ville Platte, P.O. Box 390, Ville Platte, LA 70586. If one donates a check make sure to make the check payable to City of Ville Platte Disaster Relief Fund.
In addition to monetary donations, the center is still accepting donations for cleaning supplies such as buckets, bleach, gloves, brushes, mops, shovels, masks and storage containers.
The center is also in need of toiletries and non perishable items.
Even though the water has receded and a sense of normalcy has begun to take hold, it is still important to continue helping out.
“It’s very important because these donations will help us assist the flood victims with some immediate needs while they are waiting for FEMA and insurance companies,” Vidrine said.
